"...dazzlingly good chamber ensemble…
exuberantly expressive, intimate style…
gorgeously idiomatic playing’

Richard Skinner, Fibonacci bassoon writes:

In response to a kind invitation, we headed north in April to play a wind recital for Peak Music. A detour en route to Ashby-de-la-Zouch for lunch at the (unfortunately closed) Fallen Knight Hotel proved to be the day's only low spot.
Mightily impressed by a pile of Music Society Waiting List application forms at the hall entrance we blew a few notes, then headed next door for supper courtesy of our hosts.
Cavendish Hall at Edensor must be the most beautifully situated venue I've played at. My enjoyment of a quick leg stretch before the concert was heightened by the sight of a large flock of deer on the side of a hill near the venue, and the thought that if I were to climb the hill Chatsworth would be visible in the dwindling evening light.
Our programme was well received, astringent Ginestera as well as comfortable old Danzi and Arnold, and what a pleasure it was to meet our audience afterwards for a smoked salmon sandwich and glass of something. Very many thanks to Christine Eiser and all at the Society for making us so welcome. RS
